Message from the Commodore

North Cape Yacht Club extends a warm welcome to you and your family. NCYC is a club that recognizes the importance of the boating community and their love of the water. For the past 51 years, since the club was formed, NCYC promoted and encouraged sailing for pleasure and the sport of racing. We strive to foster good fellowship among our members and guests and to provide the best facilities for both.

NCYC has something for everyone. If you are already a sailor or are interested in learning to sail we are the club for you. North Cape offers sailing lessons for both youth and adults. We have one of the top ranked Junior Sailing Programs, boating seminars on Wednesday evenings during spring, and a list of members willing to help those who have some experience sailing but would like more assistance. NCYC is active in hosting national level championship regattas, Wednesday Night 'round-the-buoys Races as well as I-LYA and AYC races on week-ends. For the pleasure sailors, NCYC offers a Cruising Fleet which organizes cruises traveling throughout the Great Lakes, enjoying the many different stop-overs.

NCYC has activities off the water as well; including Euchre night, Knitting Nights, Potlucks, Holiday Brunches, Easter Egg Hunt with a visit from the Easter Bunny and an unforgettable visit from Santa Claus.

NCYC is a volunteer organization, run by members who are committed to promote the art of sailing and to maintain the club for the future generations of sailors and members. Total membership is now more than 400, distributed over a variety of membership categories. North Cape Yacht Club is a club that is rich in tradition and family values. NCYC continues to reflect its founding heritage, the majority of members own sailboats, with some powerboats operated by former sailors who love boating but wish to abandon the rigors of hauling halyards and grinding winches.
